- Feed your soul!.... For life to have value we must think of the needs of our souls. So says the wise Dr Edward Bach. At the core of our being is the soul, and for us to live happy and fulfilled lives we must feed it with new experiences and knowledge. Not materialism. These wise words are from Dr Edward Bach, he of the wonderful flower remedies. Amazing to think he was writing this in the 1930s, and it is probably even more pertinent today. Having recently come across his work it was marvellous to read, and so eloquently written, some of our own muddled ideas. We are two people inventing our own simple life. It started with thirteen years spent making an organic garden in Yorkshire, England, then two years living self-sufficiently in the mountains of Galicia (NW Spain), followed by five years in the rural Alentejo region of Portugal. Then a complete change, with six months living on an island in British Columbia, Canada. Now we are in Spain once again. Feeding our souls with even more new experiences and refining our simpler life. As well as making gardens wherever we stay we also continue to develop the arts side of our life, through MONKEY & SOFIA.
